Regarding horses as a business: “I can tell you how to make a small fortune in horses. Start with a large fortune.”

My favorite told to me by a vet when I was having a pre-purchase exam being done. “Don’t buy a horse with known problems when you can buy a sound horse for the same amount of money. It costs the same to feed and care a lame horse as it does to feed a sound horse. Keep looking.”

My old trainer always told me to not quit horses b/c of boys so she said, “Stick with horses. Unlike boys, they’ll love you forever.” It’s so true!
